Join the Sarnia/Bluewater Wrestling Club on Tuesday, May 12th at Jack Doyle’s Irish Grille for our Year End Awards Dinner.

Tickets are $20 ($15 for youth 12yo and under,) get them from your high school coach or call Coach Burke at 519-466-7403.

The main course will be a burger buffet. Plenty of vegetarian options will be available, contact Coach Burke with any extra dietary concerns.

There are several options for youths in the Sarnia Bluewater Wrestling Club to compete in tournaments throughout Ontario. As a club, we have entered many of these tournaments and it is typically a very positive experience. However, there is a wide range of skills in youth wrestling and, as such, the level of competition can be very diverse. Young wrestlers are grouped into age categories within 2 years of each other and into weight classes typically within 2 kg (4.4 lbs) of each other to make things as safe as possible.

For those interested, the following tournaments are available. If you are interested, please contact one of the coaches to determine individually if your child is ready for tournament participation as it can be a great chance to try the skills being taught in practice.

Entry fee for tournaments is typically $20.00 per wrestler for most tournaments. Canada East is usually around $50.00 as this is considered the National Championship for youth wrestling and only occurs in Ontario every few years. Weigh-ins for these tournaments is generally at our club practice earlier the same week.

We have a one hour block to weigh in once we register. You must wear a singlet to weigh in. You need photo ID to weigh in. See www.oawa.ca for detailed itinerary and weight classes.

4 students / room. You are not allowed in opposite sex team members rooms for any purpose.

Important Things to Know

This is a club event and you are under the Code of Conduct of the OAWA. Any infringements may also affect your OFSAA eligibility and be reviewed by the SCCDSB or LKDSB.

You need a Red and Blue singlet – see Coach Burke for details

Hygiene is VERY important at these events. Shower and wash your stuff as quickly as you can upon the end of wrestling.

Cost: Approx. $230 per person – includes OAWA membership, tournament entry, hotel and ride to/from Brampton. (unless we need to rent a van then you should expect it to be about $270)
