2016 Ontario Summer Games – Aug 11-13

The Ontario Amateur Wrestling Association is hosting a tournament as part of the 2016 Ontario Summer Games. For full details, keep an eye on the OAWA Summer Games page.

This tournament is a six-team round-robin, with teams from six major regions in Ontario. The Sarnia-Bluewater team will be part of South-Western Ontario’s team, along with London-region and Windsor/Essex-region.

Athletes must qualify for the team during a regional qualifying event. These Regional Qualifiers will be finalized and information will be available by April 10th.

A series of pre-tournament camps will happen during July, and the full team will travel to Mississauga for the tournament Aug 11-13th.

If you are hoping to compete, contact Coach Burke for details on the qualifier, and keep in wrestling shape.

Ontario High Performance (OHP) Camp – Ajax ON – April 2nd

The OHP National Championships Training Camp is this coming weekend in Ajax, ON.

This clinic features 2016 Olympian, Michelle Fazarri, and 2016 Senior National Champion Jevon Balfour.

9:30am – 10am – Registration
10am-Noon – Mat Session #1 (tournament warm-up)
Noon -12:45pm – Lunch Break (lunch provided)
12:45pm – 1:45pm – Off-Mat Session – Tournament nutrition
1:45pm -2:45pm – Mat Session #2 (Official’s perspective of a match)
3:00pm -5:00pm – Mat Session #3 (technique and light scrimmage)
5:30 pm. – Wrap Up & Depart

Ontario High Performance (OHP) Mohawk Valley Camp and Tournament

On March 10th-13th, the Ontario High Performance program is bringing a team of Ontario’s top performers to Brock University for a two-day camp, followed by competition in the Mohawk Valley wrestling tournament in Syracuse, NY.

Wrestlers must have a valid passport. Details are available in the attached documents:

SWOSSAA Wrestling Results – Feb 2016

Sarnia-Bluewater was well-represented at this year’s high school regional qualifying tournament.

Oustanding Female Wrestler and Lambton Female MVP went to St. Clair’s Tali Allen at 61kg.

Lambton Male MVP went to Nathan Moro of St. Patrick’s at 72kg.

St. Clair Secondary School won the Boys’ team title, and placed third in the Girls’ team title race, giving them third overall in Combined Boys/Girls’ team title.

Top two qualify to represent Lambton-Kent at OFSAA in Windsor on March 1st-2nd.
